When the weekend comes around, my natural inclination is normally to spend as much time vegetating on the sofa, spodding and generally minimising human contact and maximising tea intake. But...you're a parent! You can already adult amazingly!

Still, I think there is some mileage in trying to get a balance of useful and fun such that some useful happens, but then when it's done, fun can be had without guilt. :)

Life is short. Do the fin things. You'll never regret NOT doing something useful instead of something fun.

Broadly, I agree - but there's a level of gross of the house that even I can't stand, and certainly it has bothered me immensely before when I've had to deal with a dirty car with no washer fluid left for a week when I could have just sorted it on Saturday! :)

I really feel this. Working full time and then coming home without so much energy to do other things - then you do all the necessary living stuff (or put off what doesn't need to be done right now) and a couple of fun things. It just leaves one feeling like there isn't a lot of forward motion and kind of stagnant.

The three things idea sounds good. Probably gets better even more once it's a habit!
