Getting Ready for Braces

So, I've always hated my teeth.  I have one 'front' tooth instead of the normal two, and all of my teeth are fairly small, so when I smile I show a lot of gum ( Read more... )

Hopefully this isn't too weird a question, but... did it hurt at all when they pulled the teeth?
I'm way overdue for having my wisdom teeth removed, and my dentist has been bugging me to get them out since one has a cavity and my mouth is really too small for them. I'm kind of terrified of the idea of having teeth ripped out of my mouth though...

Good luck with the new braces, I'm sure you'll have a lovely smile when it's all done, it'll be worth it :)

No...it did not hurt (tho the numbness is wearing off now! The pain I feel is from the manhandeling of my mouth mostly, and Aleve takes care of it.)
I could feel the tugging and hear the 'cracking' and popping of the tooth being turned in its socket. It took a minute or so. Wisdom teeth may take longer, depending on the roots they have. I repeat: the pulling did not hurt!
The needles of the anesthetic hurt. (just close your eyes and think of England...it only takes a few seconds)
Overall, it will be worth it, so let the doc do his work.

Congratulations! It'll be worth every penny to get what you want.

I've had wisdom teeth extracted. Fortunately, they weren't impacted, so it was just a numb-and-yank operation. Having heard many horror stories about wisdom teeth, I was surprised that I felt so little pain afterward. The sound of the root being pulled out of the gum, however... ::shudder::

How exciting! I am very happy for you. A smile you love is worth it. Investing money in yourself is the best investment ever! We have Braces on Kyle and instead of pulling teeth, they streched his pallet. It was a kind of retainer that had a gap in the middle and they made it a bit wider each week till the Doc was happy with it. He still has a couple of teeth to come in, so probably another year or so before he is done. We had to dump quite a bit of money in Michael's mouth over the past two years too. He had a lot going on that you couldn't see. It was nice at my work that you can set up a flexable spending account and all the money comes out pre tax, so you save a bit more.

I can hardly wait to see you. You will have to post before and progress pics. Then the dramatic before and after when you are all done! Yeah!

My doctor is so excited about the case that he wants to use me as an example for his next Invialine conference. He has high hopes for the results.
And Mike has a great smile!
