today I woke up and had breakfast. I chatted for a while with some new friends i've made and waited for my dad to call. He's picked me up once this week to go to his new house and help him paint the entire interior white. He's been busy with work so he hasn't been able to come pick me up again

I am going to be a bastard and correct your grammar/spelling:

the past tense of the intransitive verb "to lie" is "lay" "we lay around...."

well, that is the imperfect past...present perfect is "have lain". But you wanted 'lay'....
