Scrutiny (as usual)

It took about fifteen minutes after I put up my rewritten Scrutiny as the main site (and sent a note about it to the NOTE mailing list) that I got the feature request I was dreading: make it look prettier.

And, to make it worse, the fellow even volunteered to help with the photoshopping and the shading &c &c...I was kind of secretly hoping that ( Read more... )

I think you could stave off a lot of complaints about the aesthetics by simply changing the font and spreading things out around the page, so its not all clustered at the top and on the left. I can't imagine that's overly difficult. I agree with you that the site shouldn't need complicated graphics, but it seems like you could add the little bit of flash it would take to satisfy most people without too much effort. The next part of the process, and something that's totally beyond your control, is getting people to actually contribute to Scrutiny. I rarely see classes that more than one or two people on the site have actually taken the time to submit ratings for.

and btw, I love how I was able to figure out the URL for the old incarnation in one guess.
