It's all utterly fascinating! Thank you for sharing the pics and such detailed information.Do you have to have a license or something for it? As it's sharp is there a problem carrying too and from classes? Just wondering as I have pagan friends who have real trouble with their ritual athame knives and stop and search!

Cheers! Took a while to research. Loved it though. Fascinating stuff.

Yeah... UK passed a law mid 2008 stating that all practice swords are illegal for all but martial art practitioners who are registered and insured. To tot it around it has to be in a proper sword bag and padlocked.

Ironically, for a sharp real sword, all you need is a cloth bag and it's fine because you can say it's an antique and you're a collector, and it's fine!

Daft, isn't it? With the pagan thing the athames are completely symbolic and the people who use them in ritual are the most peace-loving non-violent types you could ever come across who would never use their knives as weapons which I'm sure is exactly the same for martial arts.

yeah... If you really want to cause someone some hurt, the last thing you'd want to do is to attract attention by wielding a great BIG sword around! It's the few idiots that causes trouble for so many others...
*sighs*
