Finally

Although the distributors don't seem to have succeeded in getting it to this part of the Midwest in a timely fashion, today is the day that Ed's novel, Neversfall, should be hitting shelves in the sf& f section of bookstores across the United States! (Yep, right there next to that other Ed G. *wink*)

If you're so inclined, please drop us a note in ( Read more... )

Lieutenant I. B. Goblin checking in with southwest Florida "Neversfall" report!

We have confirmed sightings in two Books-A-Millions in Venice, FL and Port Charlotte, FL. Scouts will be checking bookstores in Sarasota, FL and will report in once they have been debriefed and debunked.

Signing off for now.

Congradulations on a successful mission, Captain Gentry!

Thanks, Elaine. It must've worked... After Ed's not-quite-a-surprise party, we trekked over to one of the bookstores where we found three copies of the book on the shelves. They had had four copies shipped to them.

The nifty thing about that missing/sold fourth copy is that we know where it is: a friend of ours purchased it and donated it to the stash of books that the bookseller's been collecting for Jill's House, a local not-for-profit that provides a home-away-from-home for cancer patients and their families. So off goes Ed's book to help someone get immersed in a fantasy world and take his or her mind off the serious problems at hand.... Pretty cool!

Saw it at the Borders, where it was on the "new paperbacks" table. Now I just need to get my copy autographed...

Yes! Will you make me go to the yarn store and the bead store and pet cats? Puh-leeze? (I'll make breakfast!)

How are you and the family?

I'm doing well right now--healthy and my work load at the moment is reasonable. My mother is having some short term memory loss, and consequently is repeating things, forgetting things, and confusing things at times. It's much better than my colleague's mother-in-law's memory, but the TIAs two years ago have left their mark. On the plus side she FINALLY got a hearing aid, which helps clarify what is memory and what is not hearing. My dad is mentally sharp, but his vision is getting worse and he has some mobility issues--uses a cane for balance and quite curved over. (But she's 80 and he's 84, so I'm lucky they are still around and more or less independent.)

Yarn store -- yes! You know, I haven't done any knitting this year at all. I miss it, and I've been thinking it's time to make something for me. We'll see. Bead store -- of course! And petting cats... well, they don't really give you any other option.

Hope you and the folks enjoy the holidays. Everyone stay healthy and be careful in the snow and ice!
