Lazed around today, then went to ACAD to see the graduate's art. Gotta say I was really impressed! Great stuff. Great depth of thought was quite evident in many of the pieces, and I had to appreciate many of the artist's focus and persistence. (I almost typed; 'deep depth'..lol) Made a mental note to increase my span.. or focus... or something ( Read more... )

I haven't gone through them all yet but I will. They're thoughtful and inspire stories about them however. Excellent.

Damn I need a scanner :(

Thanks! ... "thoughtful and inspire stories".. I like that idea. :)

I want a new scanner too. My crappy old one's collecting dust, and was never any good for scanning b&w pics. In the meantime, I just get all the images put on disc when I have the film processed at London Drugs. Easy as pie.

I did find your pieces. After much wandering and wondering and rubbernecking- upstairs and down. I entered the ceramics room, and began exploring in a clockwise manner, both in direction and pace. Your 'home studio' soon came into view; the damaged, delicate little goblets all lined up, precariously. I pondered the manufacture, and the media, and the various directions to which the tiny rims tilted and dripped. They seemed to have been turned to stone while in the process of being simultaneously formed and destroyed.
The next two 'memories' set-ups were really nice. The little teacup dangled so tenuously on that tiny branch that I was scared to breathe too closely. Fragile memories.
I took the hint that I should peek into the drawer, as it was left slightly ajar. Ah.. more memories, out of sight. In a drawer that might crash to the floor- if one is not cautious.
Nice.

Fantastic! My Home Studio piece was actually a tribute to where my home studio was for the year. Right by that window. And the little tea cup hanging from the branch is one of my favorate things about that piece.

I'm also glad you opened up the drawer. My intent was to tempt people to open it, but I guess people just don't feel comfortable touching art work, so everyone I saw just sorta glanced at it and moved on.

My lamp was also on during the opening, I like it a lot better with it on.

glad you liked the show...did you, er, happen to see MY assemblage in the painting area? ;)

I certainly did. Made a point of it even. And once I was finally in the right room, your work was quite obvious (i remembered the lemur). I really like how all the paintings compliment each other. Fun and introspective. 'This moment is gone forever' was a good choice to 'anchor' the piece, as everything seemed to orbit around it's stoic blackness.
I was puzzling over a mark on a little image near the bottom. Then I realized it was a price written on the glass of a garage-sale frame. Cool... an objective inclusion.
