With drugs, I still woke up at 2am last night, then tossed and turned until 5. Yesterday, even with a full night of rest, I had to repeatedly ask what day it was.

I think the next step may be sleep clinic/specialists. Or perhaps a day of rest from work.

Make sub plans and if this happens again take a day at home to decompress.
I have the opposite reaction to stress, I want to sleep all of the time. I was in bed by 8:30 last night. Nothing is done in my house, dishes, laundry the weekly dog hair sweep, none of it. Guess what i'll do this weekend?

Are you still exercising? I find exercising helps me to get good sleep -- not that I ever have a problem sleeping.

Or you could call me for a bedtime story ;)

I have stopped jogging, which could possibly be a contributing factor, but I find that stress is the big one. Even on days when I was jogging I still would not sleep.

I think you definitely need a day of rest, and I think going to a sleep clinic is an excellent idea, since the drugs aren't working. If it were me I'd take a Friday. Weeks that end on Thursdays feel nice and short, but weeks that start on Tuesday don't feel any shorter.
