BRUUUUCE!

Last night was "take my daughters to see Bruce Springsteen" night here in beautiful downtown Hartford, Ct. And...I do believe, the first time I ever attended a rock concert stone-cold sober. Weird. Lots of old farts - that is, people my age. My daughters tried to pick out the younguns in the crowd - lots of folks like us - families with kids. ( Read more... )

You know you're a grown up when you arrive for a rock concert stone cold sober :D

Heh, did you ever think back before you had kids that one day seeing Bruce Springsteen would be a mother-daughter outing? That is very cool though. Born to Run was one of my personal theme songs back then - did he do The River? Always loved that. Soooo dark.

I was going to ask if he looked much older, but heck, don't we all, LOL.

:( - To be honest, I think music "hits me" a little better when I'm stoned...ye Gods, I'm old. & yeah, it's funny, Abby bought a poster - the old pic of Bruce & Clarence leaning on one another that was on the "Born to Run" album, and I though, Holy Smokes, he was so young then!

I never would've thought that I'd go to a concert with my kids like this - I would have been horrified if I was their age and had gone with my 'rents. But they were both so damn cool about the whole thing - dancing with me - singing. It was great.

No River - Though he did sing a few like "The Ghost of Tom Joad" & "Johnny 99" - both kind of sad, slower things. I tried not to get my hopes up for certain songs - he's got such a large ourve now that I knew he wouldn't do them all - especially some of the older ones that I love. I was just glad for my daughters that he did a lot that they knew. After all, I'd seen him twice before, so this was their concert.

Heh. You young thing, you. And thanks for your periodic updates on your situation - its makes me feel better knowing that you are "relatively" safe.

Did they love it?!? It was on the news last night, and they interviewed mostly people in their 40s+.

Oh believe me - 85% of the crowd was "our" (taking the spread as you say, 40+) age. It was so weird. I guess none of us think we've aged too much.

And yes, they loved it! (For the price I paid they'd better!) Each has only been to one other concert so it was still a relatively new experience for them. They had a blast.

We're progressive rock fans, and the last time we went to see Yes, 80% of the fans were 40+, 10% or so curious or nostalgia-loving 20-30 year olds, but about 10% of those 40+ had their kids and were rocking along together. It was a lot of fun to see.

That is so incredibly neat, that you went with your daughters! I would have been horrified to go to a concert with my parents as a teen. Maybe kids are smarter today? **grin**

He used to put on a great show.

**hugs**
