Since you brought it up....I've always been curious as to why women aren't suppossed to color or perm their hair when pregnant. If it can harm the baby, can't it harm us? I don't get it? Do you know the details?

Supposedly the hair color chemicals are not good for the developing baby. And, in actuality I do think it's not the greatest for adults either.
My mother has gotten perms and dye jobs foryears and when she developed Stahe 4 Lymphoma, the doctors said that she may have gotten the cancer from all of the chemicals.
Who knows?

Don't worry about the hair dye, unless the smell makes you puke you are good. It's just on your scalp.

I am SOOOO GLAD you said how much weight you gained. I have been freaking out about my weight gain. It's nice to know someone else is in the same boat. Baby books are always scary. Have you read "Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy" Thats a good one, I laughed.

I've heard mostly that hair dye doesn't cause any issues with a developing baby. I dyed mine at 18 weeks and aside from feeling crappy for some reason, maybe the fumes, no harm was done. I have a friend thats a hair dresser and has dyed hers all throughout her pregnancy.

Ugh sorry for all the weight gain. 0_0 I lost weight in the first half of mine due to anxiety and stuff, so I've only really gained 10-15lbs but we are healthy so the doc hasn't complained.

I know what you mean about the books...I think watching the baby story shows on t.v. are waaaay worse. I've had to avoid them like the plague cuz they reallllly scare me and get my anxiety levels up.

I think I would rather gain weight than have the serious anxiety issues that I've had though. I dunno, I'll trade ya! lol

I had my hair permed and/or colored during each of my pregnancies.... perhaps that's why Taryn and Bethany developed a love affair with hair coloring?????

Some of that stuff you just have to take with a grain of salt. When I was pregnant the first time and was scared to death after reading all these "Don't do this Don't do that's" my mom pointed out that she and her generation did all that stuff and their babies turned out fine.

So here I am 24 years from my first pregnancy (hard to believe I was pregnant 24 years ago) and I can tell you my kids were, for the most part, healthy. While it's true Taryn was born with heart problems, it wasn't caused from the booze I consumed during conception, the perm I got when I was pregnant, or anything else I did. It was a genetic fluke - pure and simple.

Try to relax and enjoy this very special time of your life....

And post some peektures of your growing belly, pleeeeeasssseeee.......!!!!!

Hey Baby! Dyeing your hair is okay as long as you did not dye it black. it will not cause damage to your little one in any fashion so stop worrying. I dyed my hair red when I was pregnant with my son and it was after 20 weeks and all was well.

I know all about gaining that much weight with pregnancy. Have they said if you have toximia (sp?) Basically, retaining water? Keep us updated please. I worry about you. Also, can I get your email addy so I can send you my cell pohone number for when you just need to talk?
