The last time I checked Tron 2.0 was bitchy to get running on Windows 7 with an Nvidia GTX 295. Massive tearing made the game impossible to play.

I'm not going to dual boot my box to fix that issue but perhaps my GTX 580 with newer drivers will work better. Doing a quick search shows that the game has massive problems.

Don't you just love it when a game that is supported in Windows works best in Linux?

Heh... thanks for that link. It might come in handy. I actually got Tron 2.0 running fine on my HP laptops in Win 7 a few years ago and picked up playing there. But I stopped a year in and never got back to it. Dual boot is a pain.

Having it running in Linux would allow me to play it as long as I can figure out why the saved games seem to lead to out of memory issues.

There was an issue with the in-game music not playing, but I found out that to fix that I needed to install some native DirectSound and DirectX stuff. So I even have the music working.

The other glitch in it is that sometimes characters render oddly. They seem to be made of plates and the plates get dislocated sometimes to that part of a limb or the face is in the wrong place at the wrong time, then they coalesce again. Probably 3D routines of some kind.

The issue that you had is similar to the one that I had. When the game was new it worked flawlessly. My guess is that it is a driver issue.

Doing a search there is a heck of a lot more information over at Tron 2.0 News with things like the Killler App Mod, User Error Mod and the Complete Map Pack.

Let us know if you get it all working. :)

Added MYST IV: Revelation and More non-Windows Games Added... eno2001 December 17 2012, 17:42:17 UTC
Since it appeared that I was missing this installment of MYST, I purchased it last week and it arrived Friday. I installed it on Sunday and I have to say I'm REALLY excited to finish Riven and Exile to get to this one. It's so much more immersive than any of the previous games ( ... )

If you liked MYST you may have enjoyed Zork. If that is your bag then check out the epic collection of free stuff over at the The Interactive Fiction Archive. If you want your head to explode check out the game Not just an ordinary ballerina. I gave it to one of my uncles as revenge for all the puzzles he gave me.

The solution to the final puzzle in the game I gave him was to create a spreadsheet that used rounded numbers in division in a semi nonsensical manner which took me a few days to reverse engineer. I provided the game and the game engine on a CD for Christmas when I was unemployed. He also received my notes and the spreadsheet in a password protected zip file. I asked him to call me for the password when he gave up.

He didn't complete the game and for that I will never let him live it down. This is the guy who played the game Adventure on a PDP-10 and had to disassemble the source code to find out why one area was confusing. It turned out that in one room the direction you ended up going out of was random.
