I loved this film. Rupert Friend is so pretty it makes my heart hurt looking at him.

Age of Innocence? Edith Wharton is one of my favorite American writers of her era.

No, actually. Its recent. Cherie. But be warned: its brutally sad.

Plans for Halloween?

Ah. Brutally sad but good? And I should see this? I will look into it.

At the risk of sounding incredibly dull, Doug and I love to pass out candy to the kids in the neighborhood. Everyone else has kids and everyone has dogs on our street and it's fun to hang out outdoors. We also carve pumpkins, although it's cold out.

How about you? Did you already have Halloween? You're a day ahead, right?

Soon I'm doing a post specifically on independent films. Because it has been such a movement in the states, and often you can't find decent caps from the films. Last night we re-watched (on VHS no less) a wonderfully little indie film called Spring Forward with Liev Schreiber and Ned Beatty. (And Campbell Scott as an asshole). These smaller films are about story first and foremost. Story and relationships, and less about cinematic, photographic acrobatics. I love the latter, but I also have a heart for a character-driven piece like Spring Forward. In other countries, do they even need an indie movement? America is set up for the blockbuster ( ... )

Your Halloween plans sound very charming. Halloween is currently taking place here, and its HUGE. It never used to be. I had to do the craziest makeups today at work: a middle-aged man wanting to be Dracula (original much?), a 'spider' witch whatever the hell that is, and a 'demented' doll lol. It was fun!

You must watch Cherie.

Oh I think I've seen that film, it sounds so familiar. Btw I dig Campbell Scott - ever since Singles and The Spanish Prisoner - that great David Mamet film with Steve Martin.

Love me some Liev Schreiber. Actually I love saying his name.
