Today I got my long-awaited camera! For the camera savvy, it's a Canon PowerShot 7.1-Megapixel Digital Camera. For the non-camera savvy, it is much better than my old one and I like it a lot

I jsut got one myself, a Canon PowerShot S3-IS. I am getting accustomed to it and liking it muchly! I've mostly been taking bird pics, and I like the macro function and the video capability too. Maybe one day if we get more long-distnace visibility, I'll get some better pictures of the mountains I so love around here. :-)
Ooooh, pictures! I liked seeing some of your life like that, and pics of you! You look different to how I imagined you. You have pretty eyes.
I'm mostly a point, shoot, and hope for the best photographer. I appreciate really good photography, but I don't have the skills nor a good enough camera to do my own. I will sometimes get lucky and take really lovely pictures, but I see the flaws in all of them anyway.
If you're going to take more pics of yourself without a timer (and really, who doesn't?!), I'd suggest playing with the angle you need to point the camera at. You can get good practice facing a mirror, and watching the LCD screen while you line it up. You have your chin resting on the bottom of the frame in lots of these, when there's some space towards the top. They'd also be more flattering if they were taken from an angle in line with your face, or slightly higher. Just as long as you don't go to MySpace extremes, but I somehow can't see you as your typical MySpace camwhore!
