Another Update

I think I'm doing better. It's always hard to tell, I'm better at noticing how bad I'm feeling than how good. However, I've been noticing less bad. So assuming less bad equals good, then I'm good. Or. Better, anyway. Not quite to good yet ( Read more... )

Not even a cooler you can put ice in?

Because cold meat and cheese can be survivable for a couple days with crackers, etc.

I took a gallon of homemade granola (rolled oats, honey, spices, cooking oil, coconut/nuts/sunflower seeds, raisins) with me when I couldn't afford to eat out on my trip to Worlds and bought a small bottle of milk every day.

Oh, I did forget that. Yeah, I can bring a cooler - no way to replenish the ice, though. Virginia autumns mean the days could still be pretty warm.

That homemade granola sounds delicious. I'll definitely have to look into obtaining/making some of that.

If you freeze a big block--or bottle--of ice and put it in there it should last for a couple days.

You couldn't even buy ice at a convenience store or something? Wow, that IS rough...but the ice in our cooler at the last rendezvous lasted for four days, melting with perfect timing on the morning we were tearing down and leaving.

Where are you staying, exactly? In a hotel? In a tent?

At a park, in a cabin. It has running water and showers and such, but to keep "in character", no stoves/fridges/microwaves/etc.

GOLDFISH CRACKERS. =D

Haha, seriously though they're probably my favourite snack. There's been many a time where I've just eaten a whole bag and it filled me up just fine. :)

Things that have done the job to "tide us over": Trail mix, both the fruit kind and the rougher kind; dried fruit, like banana chips (which taste yum) or dried apricots; whatever nuts you can eat, almonds were a choice for me while preggers; maybe some ramen or cup-o-soup thingies? Boil the water over the fire and use the extra for tea.
R's suggestions: jerky and bagels. He says bagels will last for two weeks in a backpack. He did mention pemmican bars and peanut butter, but they're out for you, I know.
