Kay straightened up, arching her back until there was an audible click and grimacing slightly. Scraping a wayward strand of hair that had escaped from its ponytail behind her ear, she reattached the control panel to the no-longer-faulty terminal and patted it affectionately, checking it was back in working order - ideally there'd be no more trouble from that for a while. Oh, no doubt something else would break before the day was out, but at least for now things were running without a hitch, and her shift was very nearly over anyway - if anything else blew up, someone else could deal with it.
She left the room and headed off down the seemingly-longer-than-ever corridor towards her quarters, looking forward to a shower (albeit sonic), comfortable clothing and some soft old-earth jazz. Sometimes she still mourned the absence of real hot water showers, and now, with her back aching and her head starting to thump, was one of those times...but still, sonic was better than nothing.
