I read a book, it was a good book.

I hate when a song has the most amazing, incredible intro, one that makes you go 'oh my god I have to listen to this, it's going to be amazing!' only to find out that's the best bit of the song, or the rest of it is just terrible.

I read a couple of books, but I don't want to spam them all at once, so I shall spread them out.

Oh boy, that sounds really claustrophobic. O_O

It's true, but it's weird because it's exactly the opposite as well, small spaces in the dark are actually the safest places in this book. Creepy book.

But it's definitely...stifling. You can feel how unnatural it all is.

It's an idea I hadn't seen done before, and that's always a nice surprise.

You've intrigued me enough that I think I might give this book a try. It sounds almost Lovecraftian in the whole 'something so unspeakable you can't look at it' concept.

That was part of what hooked me, to be honest, that suggestion of the unexplained/unspeakable/possibly incomprehensible.

I'm similar with music. I hate it when something starts off sounding good, but is ruined by the rest of the song, or even when the artist is just terrible. With the latter is the reason why I search for instrumentals, because something can have a fantastic beat but a music artist will ruin it. Or those songs that are amazing but for their official edited versions they have someone else join in, usually a rapper who ruins the flow of the song.

That book sounds fascinating. I love things that are dark and disturbing and creepy in that kind of way. I may have to check it out sometime.

Yes, I think sometimes a singer is just not up to the challenge of a great instrumental opening. The rapping thing bugs me too, I've rarely heard a rap section that I think meshes well with another style song (or maybe they're not supposed to and that's the point. I don't even know.) The only time it seems to work for me is when the - usually female - singer has a harder voice, and she's singing fairly fast already.

There need to be more creepy and interesting ideas, including ones that don't give too much away, and make you hate your own imagination.

Hiiiii!

This book sounds quite cool and creepy, I may have to check it out :D

I find with music too, sometimes I think the beginning sounds like another song and I get all psyched for it and it ends up being something else entirely and I'm just like 'bwah?' I've also realised a lot recently that I am quite oblivious to music playing in public places? I have lost count of how many people have commented on a song when I'm out and I'm like 'there's music?'

Hello! :D

It was a very creepy book. I made my mum get it too, and I just know she's going to hate me for it at some point in the future.

I've done that, I swear that was a thing in the eighties because songs were always having the same intros - I know the beginning of a Queen song sounds exactly like something else.... I will say that the music in my town centre is usually fairly harmless. I used to hate going into HMV as a kid though because they always had the music too loud :(

I can see myself only reading it during the day and putting it down a lot when it gets too creepy ;)

80s songs lure us into a false sense of security! They have zero shame! Yeah, I remember HMV and Virgin having really loud music and avoiding them because of that, there are occasionally clothes shops like that also and I don't tend to last long in them.

lol, no, read it at night, in the dark, with a tiny candle for illumination :D

I swear 80's songs just didn't give a shit, that's why they're so memorable. We have focus-group music now :(

Virgin, yes, that was the other one. HAVE SOME MUSIC WHILE YOU'RE BUYING MUSIC!!!!
