Infantilizing adult women to make them look sexy, that's one trope that I absolutely cannot stand at all. Yikes. It's like... watered down pedophilia, for crying out loud.
Seriously, what the hell. This reminds me of that How I Met Your Mother episode where they were trying to explain the appeal of it, and then Barney tried to pick up women acting like a little boy, and it was obviously a failure. Plus there was this girl who Ted was dating, who was all childlike and cutesy, and by the end he dumped her because it was too creepy.
I can't believe this trope isn't dead already. There's sitcoms making fun of it, I guess it should be over by now.
I saw the same trope in the Terry Brooks book I read, but I think this is the first time I've seen it done by a female author. And it just felt especially weird and jarring because going by descriptions the heroine very much looks and acts like an adult.
It was bizarre, and it definitely left me judging the book more harshly than I might have done.

I just don't want to read the words 'her little childlike body' from any author about their adult heroine.
