I just spent a glorious while in the Cavern and other places in the Uru universe. It is amazing and awesome to have Myst Online back. There is something so instantly worthy about the experience. The imagery/graphics are really gorgeous, and the music is sometimes achingly lovely ( Read more... )

I know! It's the game that wouldn't die!

Be aware that the servers are getting overloaded with the huge interest, so it may take a while for Cyan to acclimate, for people to get all patched and downloaded, etc.

I also had some issues with lag (but everyone was) - the game would freeze for a second every several seconds or so. It's not the worst, but definitely have patience, if you decide to go. :) It's worth a walk around the main City, at the very least.

I think you will really enjoy the proper Ages in this game - you can go co-op, or you can go it alone, and because the game's been around for a while, there are plenty of lovely and clear walkthroughs, so that you can really enjoy the graphics when you're not in the mood to solve some wacky math puzzle or whatever.

I have no idea what your experience has been thus far, but I can highly recommend a cursory examination of the Technical sections of the Uru forums at MystOnline.com for any weird issues you may have. Most of them are pretty common issues, and plenty of people have provided almost immediate troubleshooting. Everyone's super-friendly there ( ... )

I'm sure it's just the server being hammered; I can't get in at all. Same result today as yesterday. It freezes at "Checking for patcher update..." and stays there forever. If I hit Cancel, the message changes to "Shutting Down..." and stays there forever. I never see a status bar at all. And I've tried it immediately after turning on my computer fresh, so it's not leftover processes. Grrrrr.

Maybe in a couple of weeks I'll be able to try it. If I ever get in, I'd love to join you in Bevin.

What I've been doing to get in is to have Task Manager up while I try to log in. If I get "Checking for patcher update..." and it stays that way more than, say, 30 seconds, I hit Cancel, and then make sure the urulauncher.exe is no longer in my process list in Task Manager. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Basically, you're hoping for a chance that someone in the game has crashed or logged out, and you're snagging their spot in the tally. :)

You'll get in! I got in last night and the lag was appreciably better.
