Resolution-Computer Labs-Day 46 (private/unfinished)

He had his voice back. Of that he was eternally grateful. He was also grateful that looking over the diplomatic mission files didn't make him want to smash his fist into a wall anymore. His fist flexed subconsciously as if the member was flourishing in its usability again. Yes, David was grateful for a great many things. But he hadn't had a chance ( Read more... )

Gaila wasn't actually on duty, but she needed to focus on something. She was still feeling a little shaken up by what had happened the night before. Her conversation with David kept replaying in her head as she wondered if she had made a terrible mistake. Helping him with his anger wasn't really something she could regret, but why had she felt the need to bring up her brother? Why had she felt the need to talk about who she used to be on Orion? ....And even though she'd told herself that she didn't need to tell anyone about that, ever, why didn't she actually regret it? It actually felt like a weight had lifted off her shoulders, but she still felt uncertain ( ... )

He hissed at her jumping. He had no way of stopping that from happening. Even if he'd spoken softly to her she would have jumped. It was the nature of the situation.

"Sorry. Hi. Yeah, I kind of figured I would startle you no matter how I tried to grab your attention. I briefly considered tap dancing but I don't think it would have been appreciated...socially," David said as he squatted next to her.

"Excuse me, sir. Is anyone sitting here?" he asked to the lieutenant next to an empty chair. He gave a confused glare back. "Right. I don't know why I asked that. I'm just gonna...take...nevermind." He rolled the chair next to Gaila and sat down.

"How-uh-how are you doing, Gaila?" He sidled near to her at the computer and glanced, starting at the amount of data that he didn't comprehend and looked back at her.

He looked a little flustered - easily attributable to her reaction and their last meeting. She let out a surprised laugh when he said he considered tap dancing as a method for getting her attention. "Nothing is appreciated around here socially," she confided in a whisper.

Lieutenant Storal hated to be interrupted while at work, and Gaila cast him quick smile in apology. He frowned but nodded in reply and returned to his programming.

With a shrug she re-focused on David. "I'm fine," she answered automatically, and then paused. Was that even true? "Well, I... I'm okay," she decided. She let out a short breath. "I think. How are you?"

He made a face looking around at the quiet tick tackers and thumpers. Apparently she was right. He imagined some of them were even working together on the same project or thing...whatever yet no one was looking at each other. He felt a chill and rubbed his arms. For an extrovert this was a little uncomfortable.

He winced when she said she was fine. He cocked his head when she continued, amending. He pursed his lips when she concluded her uncertainty.

"Better," he said with a smile and found his hand on her shoulder. "That was..." he bit his lip. "I really appreciate what you did for me," David said. There was a flicker of eyes on him from Storal but he didn't see it. "I know you might not think so but it was--I was out of control and I appreciate what you did." The flicker of eyes happened again. "This is coming out wrong."

He leaned his head where his hand was on her shoulder. He wasn't usually this uncouth.
