It was glorious out this weekend. Fingers crossed for more of the same. Maybe it will hold out all the way to Decibel, which would be grand due to the bbqs and other outdoor events on the schedule

my impression of the volunteer coordinator thus far hasn't been so good. he emailed me at something like 3-4 different email addresses asking if i wanted to volunteer again this year since i had in years past. i wrote back explaining that i was the same person. (i can understand, there's not that many people i guess who have multiple domains and/or use multiple email addresses at the same domain). but then he emailed me again at one of the same addresses, whereupon i explained that i continued to be the same person. i let him know things i could potentially do. silence. emailed back asking if there was any update. silence. got a fresh new form email. silence. emailed again a couple days ago offering to help coordinate volunteers. silence

I made it perfectly clear to the guy that I already had my tickets and just wanted to volunteer, at that. Volunteered my couch for a night too in case they need it. But yeah, I'm creating my schedule as though nobody is going to get in contact with me, because it totally feels like that will be the case.
i emailed sean and complained about how i hadn't heard anything. he said that dean had been on vacation for a few weeks and that's why there was such a delay, but he just got back and he'd have him email me. apparently they are full up on volunteers... not sure if that's including you or before you, though.
but they did give me a couple shifts... i suspect they'd be okay with you doing one of mine if you wanted, and i'd totally give one up if you wanted one ;) i'm working friday from 9pm-1am which i'm sure you don't want, then helping tear down after the bbq on saturday from 6pm-8pm and helping tear down at havana's from 7pm-9pm.
Great timing, as usual, for what's one of the few technical conferences that I really do have/want to go to each year. I'll be around for Thursday, at least, work allowing.
Hehe, yup. It and Shmoocon are the two best technical conferences in the US, and Shmoocon is a royal pain to get tickets to, and as much as I'd kind of like to ignore work-related cons entirely, they are still useful. Besides, I've got a lot of friends I really only see there.
Much more looking forward to CCC this winter, though.
Wow, I kinda had no idea CCC even still existed. I guess with HOPE gone it's kinda the only old-school get-together left, yeah? Though I suppose defcon is pretty old-school these days, which is hella weird.
