Its time to start putting up photo's from my trip.
First stop was in the Moselle valley, we were staying in Wittlich, near the lovely town of Trier.
Trier, known as Augusta Treverorum in the Roman era is famous for its Roman buildings and Medieval history.
The Porta Nigra, The Roman city gate.
(considered the best preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps)
Imperial Baths
Trier Cathedral where they keep the
Holy Tunic Back in Wittlich near has a Roman villa of its own, but the Germans decided to put a freeway thorugh the middle of the villa. I guess I must be not as blasé at history as the Germans, because I certainly wouldn't want a roman ruin knocked down for a freeway.
The Moselle has vineyards going back to Roman era, and the vines grow up the slopes, very steep in places.
