Hullo!

Hi! I'm afraid there's nothing terribly interesting here for you to read, outside of this little intro post. I use this journal to keep up with the numerous LiveJournal communities to which I subscribe. Thanks for stopping by!

A follow-up to your recent post in ljtravel, I have been a member for one and a half years now. I am not sure that I like the idea of the time delay wait for approval. One of my fears is that if ljtravel travel is not what a majority seems to want then you end up with other communities with similar interests and annoying cross-posting. I already find this to some degree in ljtravel. I am not sure why you dislike/disallow any pictures in posts. To me it seems that one or two pictures behind a cut is not a big imposition on anyone's bandwidth in this day and age.

Ultimately it is your community but I would encourage you not to require that you approve each post but instead delete offending posts. I would also ask that you reconsider your no image policy. I like ljtravel and I believe it should be the central LJ travel related community but I am not sure that it will continue to be, resulting in nasty cross-posting.

Just some food for thought.

Hi, rjshook. First, thanks for coming over here and letting me know your thoughts.

First, I want to address your concern regarding pictures. I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that ljtravel doesn't allow image posting. It definitely does: the guidelines say the following:

Note: Many of you now have digital cameras, which you use to share pictures from recent trips. That's great, however, they do slow down Friends pages. In light of this, all images must be behind an LJ-Cut tag. No exceptions! Additionally, all of the images should be no larger than 640 x 480, out of deference to those running at lower screen resolutions. Finally, please note in the post that there are pictures behind the cut. This will help the community pages load faster for everyone. So, pictures are definitely allowed, as long as they're behind an LJ-Cut tag and as long as they're small enough to be viewed comfortably by a variety of screen resolutions. In other words, we're already using your recommended policy of the LJ-cut. :) You can have as many pictures as you ( ... )

Hi I followed your icon here from the twinpeaks comm because I love it! Do you mind if I grab it, too? I'm happy to credit you, though I noticed you were doing a shout-out about its credit.

My lj doesn't indicate my love for Miyazaki, but my /real/ online identity does!

Thanks-if-its-ok,
^__^

By all means, take it and use it, and if you ever find out the actual creator, please let me know so I can credit appropriately!
