Evidence of changing sizes.

So, in digging through childhood stuff, I discovered a pair of jeans shorts labeled with size 12.

These days, size 12 is generally a pretty comfy safe-bet-to-be-large-enough size for me.

I totally can't squeeze into these probably 15-20 year old size 12's.

Could they be a *Girls* 12? Instead of Misses? *shrug*

That's pretty incredible.

And it reflects yet another way that the fashion industry treats men better than women--our pants sizes have actual measurements instead of non-standardized sizes. If you have a 34-inch waist and a 32-in leg, then you know more or less what size to look for in any brand (with variations on relaxed fit or not, straight leg or not, etc.). Not clear why they don't do that for women's clothes too.
