Another reason the US needs more mental health care...
The gist of this story--a train ran full speed off the end of the tracks near the Navy medical ship (it's snow white with huge red crosses and the name 'US NAVAL HOSPITAL SHIP MERCY' in bold lettering). The Mercy is docked at the port of Los Angeles in order to care for non-COVID-19 patients to ease the burden on area hospitals.
This is the same role the USNH COMFORT is carrying out in New York. That's the ship that arrived to a crowd of waving, non-face masked, celebrants, but hey, at least none of them tried to kill the ship.
There's a lot of allegedly in this news item, but what it boils down to is: The train's engineer was stopped by a highway patrol officer, and had a nice chat with the FBI, wherein he allegedly said it was a spur of the moment act to get media attention to wake people up to a government takeover which the ship was part of.

At this point, I don't think the US government could take over a hot dog stand. (They can't cut the mustard.) And a secret plot generally involves... you know... something a bit more secret than a glaringly white, huge ship, painted with the international symbol of 'Neutral Medical Care'.
The Mercy wasn't damaged because, as any train engineer knows, barriers are set up to prevent trains from going off the dead end of the track. The train did get within 250 yards of the ship, which I guess was good enough for publicity.
Did no one notice this guy was off his rails, before he drove his train off its rails? Did they notice and were unable to get him removed from the controls of a multi-ton engine of potential destruction?
