The dictionaries you refer to are both in (a) the Westminister Reference Library and (b) the Marylebone Library. I believe that you could turn up at either and use the books without prior arrangement. You would not be eligible for membership of Westminster libraries, as you do not have a UK address, but I see from their web-site that you could apply for a one month 'guest membership' to use their computers (but not to borrow books). Note that both libraries are closed on bank holidays, and the Westminster Reference Library is closed on Sundays.

The Westminster library catelogue is here.

The other obvious solution would be to apply for a BL reader's pass, but that may be more bother than you wish, and I'm not sure whether you'd get one.

I've just checked the Christmas closure dates, and all Westminster libraries will be closed from 1pm on 24/12 until 28/12 and from 5pm on 31/12 until 3/1.

The University of London library is open for even less of your trip, but is easier to get into (£6/ day) and has a variety of editions of LSJ.
