If, like me, you walk through town like a tourist, take 1 hour to drink a cup of coffee, read leisurely at a dingy kopitiam and observe people rather than walk by them, you will discover more emotions, see more in people and feel more strongly that you are part of a breathing, feeling world.

This reminds me of something... I was on the train and standing at the glass panel next to the train doors. A man carrying a little boy came up and stood in front of me. The boy was seemingly asleep... his head on the (I presumed) father's shoulder. There I am minding my own business when I looked up and saw tears coming down from the father's face.

He wasn't sobbing or anything... just silent tears flowing down his cheeks. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to ask whether everything's ok. I wondered is he going through a terrible divorce? Is the little boy sick... cancer or leukemia perhaps?

They got off the train before I did. That was something that stayed with me since.
