A bit out of it

Dec 11, 2019 21:00

Back from hospital (eventually). Sort of wobbly, sore, but it was successful. The consultant did the dilation, stretching my oesophagus to 12 mm. So my diet remains impacted, mainly soft foods still, but I'm less likely to choke or block.

Bed now.

I hope that helps! My dad had trouble with his esophagus and it was terrifying when he would choke! Also, fun fact, when yourwitch was a little kid, she thought that esophagus and pegasus were the same thing.

Now there's a rare Beast I really don't want to see you illustrate. It is a cool rhyme though, and worthy of a limerick or something... I'm beginning to see why my discharge letter states I shouldn't sign any legal documents for 24-48 hours after the sedation XD

Greedy little thing, I kind of want the limerick and the drawing.

Better yet! I want six year old MW's drawing of it.

So glad to hear you're back out!!! Holy moly. Sounds like a spot of success, and that's good. Not choking is better, and bed is excellent. Get some rest and I hope you feel better when you wake. *hugs*

Thanks :) The only reason they would have kept me in was if the oesophagus actually split or I started bleeding, but he was confident I would be okay (there were a few serious words about warning signs that can occur in the coming few days, just in case)

I am on mush for the next couple of days (so no change there) and it is still narrow and not working right, but it should certainly be an improvement. Bed was much needed, but as any semblance of routine is out the window, I am now awake as of about 2.30 am :p

Don't you just love the small print on some of the things you find yourself doing?? *literally has no choices* *does thing* and the doc mentions - as an aside - but if your oesophagus splits/ we cause irreparable nerve damage/ do other terrifying thing... blah blah

I choose to look at it as proof of inherent kickassness (truthfully it's pragmatism, but BAMF sounds so much better, doesn't it?)

Can you do ground beef? I have some decent mush recipes, is that any help or does the family not cook?

Thank you. It was surprisingly jolly on the day ward, even with all the high calibre staff in attendance, but the wait for transport home was long - they were good, and allowed B, who had come along after work to see how I was doing and hung around, to accompany me home even though I didn't have a companion booked in and he isn't best on his legs. The was another transportee aboard, but he wasn't concious - End of Life patient going to one of the local hospices - who took priority of care, so I was grateful the crew fudged the rules for us

Rest. I'm glad everything went well, even if you are a little wobbly right now.
