Sorry to hear it. I've noticed that if I forget to turn off the VPN, my youtube experience changes. As long as they think I'm in Germany, I get subjected to more ads, sometimes several minute ones for something that can be a thirty second to a minute long trailer. You're right, it makes no sense and frequently causes me to just turn away. But it's taught me to try a bunch more things with a VPN going...
