While I think that Godric moment on the roof was pretty overwhelming as well, I didn't quite like such weepy!Eric. I'm used to him being a badass and I'm pretty sure he would never act like this in the books. Although we can't be completely sure, of course, as we never could read about him interact with his maker. Or could we? I've only read until book 8, so 9 is still left. Does it say anything about Eric's maker?
And as to the third book, I was afraid they were going to combine it to the second series, too, but I recently read (unfortunately I can't for the life of me remember where) that they are going to give the third book a full season, so now I don't know any more. I'm anxious to see Alcide on screen as well, that's for sure!
Eric does reveal a bit more about his past in book 9 but I can't remember him ever naming his maker or really speaking about him/her. Of course I sped through the book so I could have missed something important.
The reason I was ok with the roof moment as far as Eric was concerned was because he wasn't really aware of Sookie being there (at least I felt he was so overwhelmed by the situation nothing else was in his conscience) and it was such a unique moment. Like you said, we don't know how he would react when confronted with something to do with his maker.
So glad to hear about book 3 getting it's own season. Hearing about the different characters coming into the current season had me worried that they were going to try and shove a bunch of stuff into one season.
Also, I love having someone to talk to about both the books and the show. :)
I am now reading through the part when Eric tells Sookie about himself and he does talk about his maker. His name was Appius Livius Ocella, and he abused Eric sexually and in many other ways, though Eric does admit that he learned a lot from him. But the way he talks about him is far from any kind of reverence or even warmth, so I guess that scene on the roof was rather uncredited for, after all.
Also, I love having someone to talk to about both the books and the show. :) Very much the same here =).
Thank you for the info. I was reading about 3 books at the same time and I have a tendency to read fast (that's why I read my favorites multiple times). There are few of the Stackhouse books that I would like to reread, like number 9.
Making Godric Eric's maker in the show was one of the changes I did like. It just lent an importance for getting Godric away from the Fellowship of the Sun. I feel like the bit with Eric crying should be a one time thing though, the one time ever he lets his guard down and is emotional.
