OMG sibling pictures! Also, ouch, my heart. Ouch. Lakes I miss you, the ocean is apoor substitute. and I've been right were you were taking pictures of the dunes! And cherries.. and an old school floating dock! My grandparents cottage had one of those. I really don't want to live in Michigan anymore, but I'd love a cabin up on one of the lakes. So much chest pressure. It's either lake homesickness or a heart attack.

Aw. That's a wonderful way to think of things. Less whinging on my part, and more appreciating. Which is what I'm always trying to do, but man, it's hard to be positive.

I miss summers at the beach, and family camping vacations up north (but always on the lake) and cherries and bridges and fudge... If I somehow end up rich one day, I really will have a house on lake michigan.. or some other lovely lake in the area. You're invited. Please bring the cherries and your own pillow.

oh, GOD I LOVE YOU.

i always want to bring my own pillow when i stay places but i am always afraid ppl will think it's rude or something. the couple of times i have they've looked at me all, "what?? my pillows aren't good enough for you??" so i stopped.

and yeah. totally. house by the lake. i wouldn't wan tto be on Lake Michigane tho, just close to it. technically, the cabin is bordered on one side by Lake Michigan and the other by Cedar Lake, but the Michigan side is 1/2 a mile away through thick trees and there's a road in the way.

i will totally visit your northern haven. and bring my own pillow AND sheets.

Michigan, what the crap! Too humid. That is the extent of my Michigan memories. Too humid. Good jam made by Maus Grandma.

Those nachos do look, in fact, bigger than my head which is a big deal because my head is enourmous. And also, BACON CHEESE FRIES! *homer-like drool promptly followed by heart attack* and all for 3 dollars!

That water looks deliciously inviting. As does the cottage :)

oh, it usually IS too humid! it wasn't even remotely humid until our very last day there...even then, it was far MORE humid when we landed back in Santa Barbara. it was very weird weather, for Michigan. it was actually really great...

they had some really great booths set up at he festival - that one was the best tho :)

i wish i'd gotten a picture of the cabin from the outside...it's actually freaking enormous, for a log cabin. i think it was beuit in 1925. either that or 1912. i never remember to take pictures anymore 'cause i've been there before and all, but now i'm realising i don't have any :( i miss lakes and quiet and how dark it was there at night.
