For literary theory seminar next week we have to read (among other things) a 25 page article by the Russian formalist (I think he's a formalist?), M. M. Bakhtin. It was an article called "Discourse in the Novel" from "The Dialogic Imagination: Four Essays" (1972) and translated by Caryl Emerson and Michael Holquist. HAAA, oh God, flashbacks to first year at uni - we had to read this too, and my reactions were *exactly* the same. :P What a load of old twaddle!!

*LOL* I was wondering where he would get 'subatomic' in and there it is :) I think your interpretation is the only possible interpretation! (But then I never could take literary theory seriously so it may just be me...)

This made me giggle, because there are little bits of it which make me think of what I'm currently studying... Thankfully no one has been so cruel as to set me something so ridiculous to read... yet.

At the moment, I'm just killing time until Downton. I have twelve minutes to kill. I'm going to see how many of those quotes I can actually understand.

Uh... two at the best, more likely one. Never mind. I'll just go back to phonetics. It's a much less long-winded way of sounding like an idiot.
