lapillus did a quick beta, though all errors are my own. Title is from the first line of Meatloaf's "Bat out of Hell" though the entire song is oddly appropriate for tonight's episode.

The Sirens Are Screaming
By Epeeblade
When Jo opened her eyes she saw a woman wearing giant dark sunglasses beaming down at her. She blinked, but the image didn't change.
"Well, aren't you just as cute as a button."
That wasn't what Jo expected her to say either. She pushed herself up off of the floor, only realizing once she actually was standing that she shouldn't have been able to do that. Hell, she shouldn’t even be alive. Jo patted herself down, but there wasn't a smidge of blood on her.
And then she looked around, realizing she was standing in an empty Roadhouse. The Roadhouse that had burned to the ground years ago. "I'm dead."
"That, sugar, is where things get a little bit sticky." The woman took off her sunglasses revealing a pair of friendly eyes. "C'mon, let's go see your momma."
Jo ignored the outstretched hand and pushed past her, running to the door. "Mom!"
Then the door opened and her mother strode through the entranceway. "Joanna Beth, what are you yelling about?"
Jo didn't answer, just kept running and threw her arms around her mother. She felt strong hands in her hair and she closed her eyes, choking back tears.
"What have you been telling her, Pamela?"
"You know her?" Jo pulled back, looking between her mom and the dark haired woman. Pamela.
"Manner of speaking, darling. Not in the biblical sense, mind you." Pamela winked at her.
Jo was abruptly reminded of Dean and had to swallow back a lump in her throat. "What's going on?"
"Allow me to explain." A girl had followed her mother into the Roadhouse. She had a halo of fiery red hair and something in the way she held herself reminded Jo of Cas. "You may call me Anna."
Jo had a feeling that wasn't her name, but she stayed quiet, wondering what this mysterious explanation was going to be. How the hell where they standing here when she was damn sure she had died, waiting for the hell hounds to come?
"A friend of mine brought you here. Tessa owed me a favor…" Anna shook her head. "She doesn't want to see the end of creation either."
Jo blinked. "What are you?"
"I used to be an angel." Anna grinned. "I'm nothing like most of my siblings. They don't give a crap about humans either. But I loved being human. I'll do everything I can to save your world. I can't do it alone."
"What are we supposed to do if we're dead?" Jo protested.
"You think all battles take place in the physical realm? There are still two horsemen to stop from rising. Demons climbing out of hell. We can do something about that." Anna held out her hands.
Jo looked over to her mother. "Well, we can't get any deader, can we?"
She was gratified to see her mom laugh, this time without the tears. "No, baby, we can't."
