1. Boy or a girl?
2. Ask mom what she likes to eat.
3. Make a list of guests.
4. See if the mom did a registry for gifts, put it on the invitations.
5. Select a theme
6. Send out invitations, very soon. RSVPs.
7. Choose a cake/ cupcakes...etc
8. Prepare some entertainment: games, music.
9, If there are children, make sure food, toys, games are appropriate.
10. If it's at your home, make sure that the house is as safe as possible :) for kids.
11. I am sure there are other things I am missing.
12. Probably mom will expect something nice. Talk to her to learn a little bit more of how she envisions the party.

Thank you! I'm getting the invite list by the end of this week and I just spoke with my friend who says there is a possibility we may move the date back into august, which will be good.

There won't be any kids, as far as I know but the venue I'm using is going to be pretty safe even if kids are present.

Again, thank you for your help! :D

Here's another website: http://www.babyshowerstuff.com/

Specifically: http://www.babyshowerstuff.com/howtothbash.html, that has checklists and some details.

Good luck!

Get food mommy to be likes and/or is allowed to eat. My brother in law, the saint he is NOW not then, left the food up to his sister & cousin and they ordered wonderful food BUT my sister was diabetic during her pregnancy and couldn't eat any of it but the salad. So here's the sister (who forgot the film!!!) and ran out to get her food & missed the opening of the gifts. gah

Make sure there is food left over for when the "men" (ie daddy or grandpa or brothers or cousins or bfs whatever) come back to help "load the heavy stuff" into cars;they get a little pissy when they miss out on the good stuff.

Save the cake topper for her too or get one that you can save.

IF the dad is around/involved, will he be invited to it ie co-ed shower? I know my best friend's hubby was a little put out no one asked him his opinion on the shower or what he liked;whether the dad is a diva or not, include him or at the very least get his opinion on her flowers & ask him to help a bit. I swear men sometimes are more divaesque than women are.
