For gn004nadleeh  (best of luck with exams and end of semester!)

Title: Unplanned Retreat
Series: Gundam 00
Characters: Meisters...and then some cameos by other characters. Including Graham.
Rating: G
Prompt: "Meisters at the beach"

Setsuna, Lockon, Tieria and Allelujah stood on the warm sands of the beach. There was a continual murmur of angry muttering from Tieria. As this had been issuing from Tieria for some time now, the other Meisters had become somewhat indifferent to it (it was like the droning sound a volatile battery made while it charged - irritating but no move could be made to quiet it for fear of explosion or other damage to self). Once in a while, though, some particular phrases stood out by the vehemence they were spoken by: "Setsuna F. Seiei...Sumeragi Lee Noriega...fundamental mission plan..."

In fact, it was unclear exactly whose fault it was. It could be Graham Aker's fault, for accosting Setsuna F. Seiei and Exia in midair to talk about horoscopes. Or else Setsuna's, for reporting this back to Sumeragi Lee Noriega when asked about the Flag he encountered with a level expression while speaking about "Vir--gos". Sumeragi had, with some consideration, waited until Setsuna had left the room before bursting out into laughter and forgetting to arrange for transport for the Meisters. Or maybe Sumeragi was to blame, as her memory loss could also be attributed to the 4 glasses of wine, 1 glass of whiskey and 1 shot of vodka she had had "jshust t'inish off". Either way, the result was that the Meisters were now essentially stranded upon this beach for an indeterminable amount of time.

The first few hours passed reasonably well. Everyone avoided Tieria, Setsuna went over Exia's maintenance in his mind, Lockon walked around the island and Allelujah took the chance to rest.

The next hours after that were harder. There was silence from Tieria, which then made Lockon and Allelujah at least (Setsuna was now at step 37 of maintenance) uneasy as they wondered if this time was being used by Tieria to plan revenge or some possibly painful-but-necesssary-for-the-success-of-the-mission method of returning to their base.
"Setsuna!"
To ensure smooth movement of all controls - "Lockon Stratos." Lockon had found a pair of scissors left by some person and now held them up in front of Setsuna.
"Your hair's gotten a lot longer. It'll start to cover your eyes when you're piloting soon. I thought that I might as well help you cut it since there's nothing else much to do while we wait." It also meant that he was now armed against a possible retaliation from a certain Meister.
Setsuna looked back at Lockon. "Okay." He sat down in the chair that had also been left on the beach, and Lockon began. He paused, unsure of whether there was a certain shape or style to Setsuna's hair. In-out-in...and then out again? Perhaps it would be easier if he just gave up and cut randomly.
Step 38: the display screen at each side...

Lockon's had nearly finished with Setsuna's haircut (he had discovered that Setsuna's hair maintained roughly the same shape regardless of how he cut it) when he was interrupted by Allelujah. Setsuna, having completed his mental maintenance of Exia, could now focus his attention on the table, and various implements that Allelujah was carrying. Lockon then phrased Setsuna's stare into words.
"What are you doing Allelujah?" Allelujah set the table and the other objects down a short way behind Lockon and Setsuna.
"Well, I thought that we have to eat right? It's getting rather late. I couldn't find any ready-to-eat food though. All I found were some apples, and then some flour, milk, butter. Maybe we can make something?"
"It is a little late. No idea on what's happening? Christina said to call Sumeragi, but she's not answering." The last part of Lockon's sentence however, was partly covered by the loud click of the scissors as he accidentally cut away a larger piece of Setsuna's hair than intended (there was no noticeable difference, though) in response to Tieria's appearance behind Allelujah.
"Allelujah Haptism" - a metal utensil fell onto the sand - "do you even know how to make something edible with those ingredients?"
As the super soldier facility had not deemed Basic Cooking Skills important as part of a super soldier's education, Allelujah replied with "It can't be that hard, can it?"
"I assumed not. Allelujah, you are, " Allelujah thought he could could complete Tieria's sentence "to peel those apples." Or perhaps not. "I shall do the rest. Setsuna F. Seiei, your assistance is unneeded. And Lockon Stratos, as there is a lack of sufficiently clean water for you to wash the hands that are covered with hair and sand, just stay where you are." Lockon and Allelujah exchanged amused, but puzzled glances. Cooking knowledge? It seemed that Veda's database was more extensive than they had imagined.

When Sumeragi and Lichty finally arrived to collect the Meisters, they were surprised that the first question they were asked was not "Where have you been?" but "Water, water, do you have water?" Although Veda did have some information on cooking for survival purposes, the additional innovations were all Tieria's own.
