Every so often, and no more than twice a year, I manage to have a fit of incredible energy on a very busy day. Today was one of those days, and after patching servers at 5:30 AM, I hopped on my bike and rode to work.
I was inspired to move quickly because it appeared I might just have a shot at catching, if not the golden light, at least some decent morning light. Alas, the sun was behind a bunch of clouds, but I got one semi-decent picture:
This got some curves, perspective correction, lens distortion correction, and cropping in post. Later in the day I had to run an errand on my lunch hour, and these roses were waiting for me on the way:
My camera has a nasty tendency to saturate the red channel, particularly when shooting heavily-red objects, and it did so in the original image here. A fair bit of tweaking was necessary to pull detail out of the flower petals.
