Because of that rec I'll give the story a try, but I have to admit that I remember opening this story in the past and reading this note and giving up before I even got to the text of the fic, because this? I can live with the eye rolls, but I do like to hear what reasonable and intelligent people think about how author notes should be handled so your opinion means something to me.
BTW, a belated thank you is due. You recced one of my stories apparently a year ago and I didn't find out right away. But thank you! Since Miracles is my favorite TV show of all time I was pleased beyond belief to get that fic recognized publicly. I really did try to use SPN (a very popular crossover fandom for us Miracles fen) to give some ( ... )

Personally, I actually like long author's notes at the end of a story. If it's a good story, then the notes can tell me more about the author or the writing process or about some of the research behind the story. If it's a bad story, then I never make it to the end and thus the (probably equally bad:) notes can't bother me. It's only when they're at the beginning or in between each chapter that they drive me nuts.

It was a while ago, but I -think- I liked it (though apparently it didn't mark me that much). I would remember if I'd hated it, anyway.
