Apparently I like to process my mixed feelings about new Merlin episodes through compulsive gif-making.

All gifs from episode 2x02, "The Once and Future Queen" - privately known as "abandon ship - or not."

OMFG I LOVE YOU. I took nearly all of these, just so you know. And you capped nearly every scene I wanted to rewatch, which is brilliant!

Also, could someone remind me what is being said in that third before last gif in which Arthur smiles his beautiful smile and Merlin desperately tries to contain his? (Sorry, I'm operating under severe download limits, which means I get to see the ep exactly once on the BBC and then have to wait for the dvds to come out...)

In short: Arthur inquired about the tournament, Uther replied that Arthur's stand-in was the tournament's new champion, and Arthur said something along the lines of "I'm sorry I missed all the excitement" while sharing a private smile with Merlin. What I didn't show, of course, was Arthur sharing a similar private smile with Gwen right after. But, hey, you know, I'm allowed to do that. :D

Oh, woman, I am not offended. In fact, my slasher heart sympathizes with your small rebellion. I love Gwen, but I was definitely not a fan of how this episode played out. This was probably the only A/G scene I found to be truly moving, and it's mostly because how lovely and compelling Arthur looks.
