Joseph Mallord William Turner painted his "Rain, Steam and Speed - The Great Western Railway" in 1844, 4 years after Claude Monet was born. Looks like it took the Western civilization 28 years (Monet, "Impression, soleil levant" 1872) to develop impressionism out of the Turners' masterpiece.
