Victoria fires at the moment

From the cfa feed I've created as up to date map as possible. It looks pretty bad out there. Small going fire around monash!

although it seems to have eased a lot over the last hour. The going fires are disappearing.

At the moment there's nothing there but a lovely map of north-eastern Victoria. Heh. Even the Kinglake-Murrundindi complex isn't showing up - I suppose it's possible that the rain! Yes rain! we had last night has put it all out (but for some reason this seems unlikely.)

Looking at the CFA site this morning, we've got the same four going fires as we've had all week - Kinglake-Murrundindi (north and south), Wilson's Prom (which seriously, have you seen that map?! How much of the Prom is unburnt?) and the Bunyip complex which has now been going nearly a month by my estimates.

On the positive side, the ones around Churchill look to be contained!

And the weather forecast is for cool with showers the next couple of days which should help.

hmmm... no it's a static map. It only shows the fires at a certain point in time and I have to manually ftp xml files up to the web server to update it. It only seems to work with firefox on my home computer, although I'm sure I tested it with IE at work. Ironically enough it doesn't work with google chrome at all.

There are only 24 entries on the cfa site at the moment, at around 6-8pm there were 219! It looked like the entire state was on fire.
