Because a few of you have asked - here's my rant on US bra sizing scams

If you're one of my American friends - especially if you're one of my larger-busted American friends, you're probably wearing the wrong size bra. And sorry, you won't make it better by getting a "professional fitting" at a department store or lingerie boutique.

As far as I can tell, very few American places will properly fit you for a bra. There'sRead more... )

Oh my gosh, thanks so much for this.
Finding the right-size fitting bras has been the bane of my existence most of my life. (Currently a 40DD but wish I was smaller.)

You're probably not a 40DD. Honest.

Bless you for posting this! I am always spilling out the top of my bra and last time I measured myself I was actually a cup size in between. I'm wearing a 36D right now but will go home this evening and measure myself the way you've suggested to get a more accurate reading. Thanks so much!

And a tip for you... femmedivakitten October 2 2007, 18:24:21 UTC
Go to www.brastop.co.uk. I love them. I repeat I love them. (not as much as I love you, but still...) Many of the same brands as Bravissimo (and some that they don't have), but at much better prices. I particularly love my new Curvy Kate Portia in Cerise.

And in other news, I miss you mightily, but have found myself feeling shy about calling. What's up with that?!? I'm going to get over myself any day now.

Love you!

I miss you oodles, princess. And thanks for that link! I'm definitely going to try out their house brand. Can't beat those prices, and you say they actually fit?

SHOCKING!!!!

**big hugs to you, love**

Wow this is actually really helpful. Bra shopping for me has always been painful, coming second to only jeans shopping.

Thanks so much for the help!

I hope you find the right brands and size. Nothing makes me more confident than a well-fitting bra, and nothing makes me feel more skeevy than an ill-fitting bra. Seriously. I could be wearing a potato sack, but with a good plungy pushup bra underneath? Queen of the galaxy.

I hate American bra sizing! I wear a 32E or F and it doesn't even seem to exist here. Most of my bras are from Bravissimo... I'm excited to see the cheaper alternatives suggested here. :)

Me too, I am definitely checking out Bra Stop. I haven't bought a US bra since 2003. It limits my choices, but I look and feel SO MUCH BETTER OMG.
