I really need to start doing this but I can never remember what I've read already. I think I either need to start with the books I'm reading NOW or just start next January. Also, I need to read The Red Tent. It's sitting in my desk. It's weird though. Whereas you read mostly fiction I read mostly non-Fiction. Although I am reading Inkspell right now and loving it.
That being quite why I make lists. The reason I don't forget is I add the finished book as soon as I'm done. Often I've picked up a book and gotten halfway through it saying "I KNOW I've read this before..." or conversely had thoughts about a book I've read and not been able to remember what it was called or who it was by.
I don't actually read books to educate myself, unfortunately. There is something about them that bogs me down, as much as I want to learn and am interested in the topics I find it difficult to get through nonfiction informative literature. I was told once it's a learned skill, though, and I'm working on it.
Fiction is my escape. I read to be somewhere, someone, sometime that isn't here and now and me. Reading for information is the exact opposite of escapism.
