I have concluded that pizza certainly appeals to elves once they get the taste. Uncle Sam would make it as a treat for Tindómë but really he was more into the full burger experience - Tindómë reckoned he could have made a good living in The Shire if he had opened his own Samburger joint :)
Do we know what sorts of animal proteins are available to them? Fish is easy enough, and poultry/game birds are likely, but pigs and cattle have me thinking "Hmmm, our girl is probably missing pepperoni something fierce".
Back in Middle Earth there would doubtless have been all the usual European farmed livestock and some hunted animals as well.
I reckon in Alqualonde there would certainly be fish, but I think also farmed animals. Sam definitely had access to dairy products as he was making custard in Immigrants, and there is mention of gooseberry fool - and definitely goose fat. Once they get settled in their new forests there will certainly be wild boar, and they have seen both goats and bighorn sheep in the mountains that Legolas' naneth thought could be tamed over time, as well as the wild game.
I reckon that if anyone was already preserving meat as spiced sausage it would be the hobbits and, if the elves didn't already, Tindómë would soon be persuading them to learn how - after all it would make a good trail food and definitely a change from lembas. Then you just have to persuade them that big brave warriors can cope with a lot of hot spices... and keep an eye open for suitable peppers to cultivate :)
. . . and now I'm giggling at the notion of agricultural inspection points at the docks at Alqualondë. You know every edhel and their dogs were bringing seeds and cuttings, or sending them with anyone else going.
I don't even know what they did! Just "The Twins executed the latest in a centuries-long prank war and this time it caught her wrong". She'll forgive them pretty quickly - but will also absolutely be sourcing peppers.
