I know this happens to everybody - but for some bloody reason, I can't seem to write any more.

I don't know why. This is a really awful kind of Writer's Block; when you have all these ideas, all these things that would have once upon a time inspired you, but you just can't write. I recently asked for prompts in my Tumblr Askbox, and I got heaps - ( Read more... )

I'd always read your fics (and the fics of many other similarly talented writers) and think, if ONLY writing like yours were to find on the "new publications" shelves in book stores I'd start buying books again. You and my other gifted friends are what makes me bitter every time I see or hear about that insipid 50 Shades book or even Twilight. That crappy writing like this gets rewarded, published and distributed and sold and all. That everywhere I walk, these offending book covers stare at me, while I know perfectly well, how far more talented people do what they do for no money at all ( ... )

Like you said, it happens to everybody. It hasn't been that long for you, you just wrote loads of Pacific Rim fic. I can only speak for myself, but I feel like that after I've written a lot in a short time, especially after the first frenzy of a new fandom.
If you still enjoy fandom, give it time. Fandom can be a great place, even if you don't actually create something and most people enjoy it in waves if being more and less active.

You need to stop thinking so much and just let the words flow. Maybe try tools like Write or Die or Ommwriter to see if they can help? If you miss it then you shouldn't give it up something you obviously enjoy even if you're going through a rough patch.

I know exactly how you feel. I have this kind of writers block fairly often. And the solution depends on your ultimate goals. If writing is just a hobby for you and fandom has lost its luster, then yes, I would say you shoulder consider stopping writing. If that's so, you can move on to things that are more important to you. But if you really love writing for writing and you feel like fandom still has something to offer, then push yourself. Write a little bit every day, even if it's just a sentence that you never post. Your inspiration will come back one day. It always does. Then, you can write as much as you want.

I hate to even give the option of not writing, because you're such an amazing talent in fandom. But if that's what you feel is best, I'll be right there for you. ♥

Hi, I only just friended you and we don't know each other, but here's my 2c. Often if I am feeling uninspired with fic it's because I've been writing and reading too much fic exclusively, and I need to go away and read some really good original fiction to remind myself how much variety there is in great writing. Fic is great but can often get very samey (everything tight 3rd person, present tense etc) and it's like eating the same food every day for a year - it can only taste good for so long.

Other things: to get past anxiety, try writing anything you feel like in a paper journal or otherwise for private consumption only. Paradoxically, journalling about how angsty you feel about not writing can help spring something loose sometimes.

Another thing: are you bored with your current fandom? Explore new shows etc and see if that gets you excited.
