Politics and cars and visitors

The General Election:  Our constituency remains Lib Dem.  Not really a surprise - it's basically been a two-horse race between Lib Dem and Plaid Cymru here for years.  I would have liked to have felt able to vote for Plaid, except that their policy on only employing Welsh-speakers in councils would probably lead to Himself and many of his ( Read more... )

The Sister is acting as his sous chef, which should be worth the price of admission in itself since her culinary talents usually extend as far as toasting various bread products and layering them with cheese slices and ketchup. The only reason she hasn't died of malnutrition is the existence of multi-vitamin tablets.

Okay, that just made me laugh and laugh.

Enjoy the dinner! One meal does not a diet break.

I think her sous-cheffing extended as far as washing up, peeling potatoes and tying a strip of leek around thin carrot sticks (he found a way to make carrots more interesting - he gets five points for that alone!).

I'm with your sister - are three sorts of spud even possible? *hg* Enjoy the dinner - mmmm brulee. Are you allowed to keep him? Hope the cold and the car problems sort themselves out quickly. ::blows kisses::

It turned out to be only two types of potatoes - dauphinoise and other-type-the-name-of-which-I-cannot-remember-but-which-was-basically-new-potatoes-which-were-roasted-with-rosemary.

The brulee was awesome. I couldn't actually finish mine, but it was chocolate heaven. I have been promised a lemon posset and a cappucino mousse next time he visits. (I know - I say I'm not even a pudding person, but... lemon posset! Just the word posset makes me happy.)

I voted, but I'm not convinced that the MPs actually run the country. I'm sure it's the men in grey suits who have the job for life and have to be wheeled out of a back door when they die. The faces we see on TV are just front men who do nothing but argue... *G*

I hope you are feeling better now? This cold does seem to be persistant. Nearly everyone has it at work. I just hope I can cling on until after next weekend!

Hope the dinner went well and you were able to drink some wine so you didn't care about the cold!

I think you're right - I reckon the civil servants are the real power behind the throne and the colour of the party in charge is pretty much irrelevant. But then again, I know practically nothing about how politics works.

The cold is still hanging on. Himself has it too, but not as badly as me, thank heavens (he's had to go on a training course and if his brain was as fuddled as mine is at the moment I don't think he'd learn much!).

The dinner was very good. Not really your kind of thing *g* but very yummy. (And, since you ask, I had a medicinal whisky!)

Echinacea and zinc! Both boost your immune system. (Actually zinc is good for something else in men...) You can take the echinacea as a tea or as tablets - it tastes better with lemon, or honey in your case.

PS You don't want to know what spellings came up in the spell checker for echinacea....
