It's not that I don't understand it, it's that I am stuck doing it the long way, step by step, counting note by note, and I can't seem to do it any other way. I understand how you get to the desired chord and why, my brain just can't seem to mash the steps all into a few seconds, and it rather takes me like a minute or two. I have the same problem when it comes to anything math or logic based. Even with identifying intervals in ear training, I have to stop, recognize the first note and count up or down from each step.
SO if you have any suggestions that might help me speed up a bit, that would be wonderful and my two hour homework won't take me 4-5 hours. :)
I've been doing music theory forever, so it's been going on ever since I started theory.
Um, I don't have problems with the triads or the thirds, It's mainly just secondary dominants that are tripping me up in chord progressions. Analyzing Bach, persay. Gah!
Also, doing ear training with the interval decending, but I have "practice musica" and have been working on that.
