So the Backstreet documentary finally came out here this weekend and we rounded up a small fangirl posse to go and see it. Super-glad I’d allowed myself to be spoiled beforehand, because I think I would’ve been wrecked by all the personal stuff if I hadn’t had the chance to mentally prepare myself first.
Or, as I said: I’d been planning on

Also, other people wear tinhats, cause they're being nutty. We wear attractive and practical shiny chapeaus, cause we are smart and know what is what ;)

I hope you'll be writing up your impressions, too? I always enjoy reading your thoughts about pop music narratives.

Clearly, what we need is a documentary to cover the holes in the documentary.

I could’ve watched hours of them writing songs in the London flat. So many hours.
Me, too! I really hope that whenever the DVD comes out that there's a ton of deleted scenes. And I want fic, lots of fic.
The whole time Nick was yelling, all I could think was that he just wanted somebody to validate his existence.
I know. It's so heartbreaking. I think when kids grow up completely deprived of conditional love and stability, it breaks them in ways that are so hard to fix. It's like Nick is missing the whole foundation of belief in his own value as a person. :-(
Kevin the peacemaker was awesome. I can’t remember his exact words, but something about, Let’s talk from a place of love, because of course.Kevin is like a walking self-help book sometimes, he really is. (Something that I noticed just now when I was watching the fight again. At the very beginning of the fight, when Nick is screaming at Brian to shut the fuck up, Kevin starts laughing in the back of the shot. I ( ... )

That would make sense. (And also fit with Nick accusing Brian of being a dick 'like everyone knows you are'. Assuming that pointing out someone's terrible life choices counts as being a dick in Nick's mind.)
although Brian hasn't rejected Nick outright, he has been disapproving of many of the choices he's made.
Yeah, I'm sure he's been pretty vocal about it, too. I mean, he actually had himself blurred out of the BSB group meeting scene in HoCrack, which at the very least means he refused to sign the releases to let them show him. And it's so obvious it's Brian (okay, I instantly recognised his knees, which was...a skill I did not know I possessed before that moment) because who the hell else would be at a BSB group meeting? So he must've purely been making the point about House of Carters being an awful idea.
Actually, apart from Brian bringing Nick his tea, I'm struggling to remember any positive Nick/Brian interactions ( ... )

I'm surprisingly saddened the idea that Nick and Brian might not be friends any more. I think Brian was so, so good for Nick in the early years -- especially now that we keep hearing more about Nick's terrible pre-band home life. (I really cannot get over the gun thing. That's just a whole new level of horrifying.) The 20th Anniversary Tour is finally coming here (...two years later) in May so I'll be on high alert for N/B moments.
Regarding Brian's looks, I think it might be that he's finally grown into that jaw of his.
Glad to hear I might've misheard about the This Is Us tour! I'll have to ask my friend for more details.
Btw, there's a good chance I'll be in your neck of the woods sometime this year. Would love to catch up again. (:
