I have tended to approach writing with the idea that anything I write should be worth reading. Which could probably be said of most writers, though the idea of some writer tossing off pieces simply to see how careless he can go without losing any of his readership is rather striking. So, allow me some exposition.

Thanks for the suggestion. Right after we moved, I started looking for a book group or something along those lines to join, but wasn't intrigued by much of what I found. Given my literary elitism, the public lecture route seems a bit safer. By the by, what are you reading now?
