Karl...SO GOOD TO SEE YOU!

Well, I found out this past week that I am probably getting "let go" within the next 1-4 weeks. Yay for me! I got PIPed (Performance Improvement Plan), which is typically a pre-cursor to the ole "Thanks...sorry it didn't work out, but if you need a reference..." talk. but I read online that, on average, 59% of people who have graduated college within the past two years will either quit, be laid off, or fired from their first job.

that is kind of an assnine statistic. the inverse is saying that 31% of people will keep their first job for the rest of their lives... which is highly unlikely, unless the majority of that 31% will die young...

Yeah...I questioned it myself, as well. However, if you think about it, it could be accurate. You figure that there is 41% left over (I'll excuse your math error THIS time, but big points off the next quiz), give or take the standard deviation (4% maybe). Those 41% can keep their jobs for over 2 years after graduating, then do whatever...stay with it, quit, get laid off, etc. It seemed odd to me at first too, but the "two year" catch kinda covers for the seemingly lopsided statistic. I did mess up the wording a bit, so I can see where the confusion would lie...I should have said within two year of graduating college, 59% of people will either...etc.

However, I did get it online at some random site I was on at work, and remember that 87.543% of statistics are made up.
