Massage and colic preventative

About 2 years ago I moved from Texas to Wyoming with my TB gelding. He initially had a hard time adjusting to weather and was colicing off and on every time the weather took a dip overnight. I put him on a probiotic and that seemed to be the end of that

I would imagine if he is painful that can lead to general muscle tightness, but I donvt know if muscle tightness would necessarily lead to colic. I haven't read or heard anything stating muscle tightness could cause colic.

Does he drink plenty of water and have both plain salt and mineral blocks available free choice?
