So sad. If our leaders or future leaders do not empathize with the masses, the elite is disconnected and the social divide will widen.
If I am in government, I will push for all senior civil servants and MPs to use the public transport to work at least once a week so as to experience what most Singaporeans go through, to mingle, to listen to conversations on the ground and stay connected so that public policies are more compassionate and people-orientated.
You cannot really know the ground by merely Meet-the-People session, Feedback session, Constituency Walkabout and survey reports.
That's true. As much as we hate to admit it, better to admit to your rascist thoughts than pretend to be politically correct. Same thing with anti-gay activists. I much prefer them to those who are so politically correct, but stab you with some homophobic comment when you're not looking.
We all have a little bit of rascism I guess. Calling him a piece of 'excrement', like some of the other bloggers somehow doesn't do it for me.
